Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword 5160 Spring Steel Live Blade Great Balance

Landsknecht Katzbalger Sword 5160 Spring Steel Live Blade Great Balance

During the Renaissance, the arming sword worn by the German mercenaries known as the Landsknecht was the Katzbalger. Mainly a secondary weapon, this arming sword was a last defense against adversaries. The distinctive S-shape guard and blade profiles gives this sword it's place in history.

Beautifully reproduced to specifications of Kingston Arms, the feel and balance of the Katzbalger will surprise the wielder with it's proportions. With the balance point just over two inches from the detailed stainless steel S-shaped guard, the configuration allows this weighty sword to be quick and powerful.  The live blade is forged and heat treated from 5160 spring steel and is secured to the pommel via allen head nut.  The pommel and S shaped guard are of stainless steel for strength and ease of care.  Comes with a leather covered timber scabbard with a stainless steel drag to protect the base with a heavy leather collar at the mouth to help prevent splitting.

About 5160 Steel

5160 has achieved an excellent reputation for its toughness and resilience, particularly in larger knife blades and sword blades, where shock absorption is a requirement. Careful heat treating of a 5160 blade can produce a hard edge section and a softer core, an excellent characteristic in hacking blades.

5160 Steel Composition: 0.61C 0.94Mn 0.88Cr
