The boss was originally designed to deflect blows from the center of round shields, Ideal for the re-enactor crafting his own shield, our 14 gauge, 2mm steel bosses are spun and then polished to remove the spinning marks before being pre-drilled with 1/4", 6mm holes for attachment to the shield. This small 6", 15cm diameter version has a hemispherical/conical cup and would be suitable for a small or kids size Viking style sheild.
