The Practical Plus XL Katana provides a cutting sword that is economical while featuring traditional fittings and construction methods.  Designed for maximum cutting power in heavy tatami targets, these katana feature genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a tightly-woven cotton Tsuka-Ito for years of service. The 71cm hand forged 1566 carbon steel blade is differantially heat treated with a long tang that is double-pegged for security.  With the XL geometry the blade is very broad providing less resistance in the cut making it very good at tatami cutting.  The patinated stainless steel fittings of the Practical Plus Katanas are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with dragon menuki, and the handsome iron Tsuba features a "sunburst" design with a brass habaki.  The quality timber saya is painted in a non reflective finish for a clean finger print friendly appearance with horn koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri for long service life.
